Avid Cloud Collaboration

Hello there bloggers, Today we will discuss a different platform. Usually we discuss social platforms like YouTube or Instagram but today we are going to discuss An online platform that allows you and others to join together on production with out being in the same room, hell with out being in the same state. I know you are thinking like how is that possible well lets jump into that. Avid makers of pro tools has created what is called Avid cloud collaboration. This awesome feature gives you the ability to do something some thought would never be possible. This cloud enables you and other Pro Tools users to work together on the same music session or soundtrack—in real time or offline—no matter where you all are across the world.
With built-in “community” features, you can create groups of collaborators, see who’s online and available, and send invites for one or more people to contribute to a session. You are even given the option to expand your talent pool by finding other collaborators through a Pro Tools directory. These is so cool to me but at the same time I think about the negatives. What if the cloud crashes? What would this do to my work saved? But on the positive side of this awesome idea With track-based collaboration, you’ll be able to:
  • Post sessions to cloud storage and invite others to collaborate
  • Work on the same session at the same time or offline and share updates directly within Pro Tools
  • Record, edit, and mix tracks that will be pushed to all other collaborators upon completion
  • Automatically keep track of all contributions and changes, as files are automatically tagged with rich metadata
  • Stream mixes to a mobile device for real-time review and approval
  • Communicate with collaborators through text or video chat directly from within Pro Tools
This takes pro tools and everything that avid does to another level. I'm really excited about this feature and would love to get some feed back from my viewers. Leave some feedback and tell me what you guys think.

  1. Avid sounds like they're really getting into something really cool. As much as I love using Pro Tools, I would really love to see this implemented on several other programs other than audio editing software.

  2. This sounds like such a cool idea! but i wonder too as well what if the cloud crashes? lets say if you and the guy you are collaborating with make a badass song what happens if you lose everything but he was able to save the session. then he sells it? how can you prove that u were part of that process?

  3. I am really skeptical about this new cloud based storage and online session system. I think there are too many variables that can go wrong in the process of recording on the Internet live. All it takes is for one persons computer to go down or an Internet connection to be slow and it will all go wrong. I think there are enough problems and things to go wrong in the studio already to have to add more to it.
